The thirteenth entry in our exploratory Double IPA series, Society & Solitude #13 features HBC 586, Simcoe, and Strata® hops. Developed by the Hop Breeding Co. (a joint venture between John I. Haas and Yakima Chief Ranches), HBC 586 is perhaps our favorite HBC varietal in the last decade. Strata®—a variety developed by Indie Hops via Oregon State’s Aroma Hop Breeding Program—provides a unique complexity of aromas that buttresses the qualities we enjoy most with our hand-selected Simcoe® hops.

A throwback to the original Vienna lager recipes of the 1840s, our take - a markedly paler version than many modern examples - showcases the classic Vienna malt. Volksgarten is characterized by aromas of honey and biscuit, subtle toasted almond character on the tongue, and a complimentary spicy herbal hop note from the Czech Saaz.

When first released, our smoky version of a traditional English porter was ahead of its time. Today, it's a highly regarded staple among craft beer fans and our go-to food complement, pairing effortlessly with all kinds of cuisine, from peanut butter and banana sandwiches to braised pork belly and apple pie. This worldly libation is dark, smooth and complex, with chocolate and coffee flavors suffused with subtle smokiness from the addition of peat-smoked malt.

Fort Point balances light, crisp, malt character with an abundance of hop-derived aromatics and flavors from the use of Citra and Columbus. The fragrant nose is fresh citrus, tropical fruit, and peach. Bold flavors of pineapple and mango mix with dank notes of zesty citrus and fresh pine needles. With the smooth mouthfeel, gentle bitterness, and dry finish, Fort Point is our standard daily-drinker.

This series is a playground for exploring new hop combinations through the plush, saturated lens of our house “Nosh” profile. This round is a New Zealand-inspired DIPA that layers multiple Nectaron harvests with NZ Cascade for lush tropical fruit, bright citrus, and a clean, modern finish. Soft and saturated without excess sweetness — a plush yet vibrant expression of our “Nosh” series. On the nose it gives Mango nectar, pineapple cream, passionfruit, and orange sherbet with accents of lime zest and peach candy. The sip brings bright tropical fruit layers with juicy mango and sweet citrus up front, mellowed by a creamy mid-palate and crisp lime finish. Soft bitterness balances the lush fruit profile for easy drinkability.

This Munich-style dark lager is brewed and fermented with traditional Bavarian ingredients and techniques, creating robust malt notes of caramel and chocolate with a smooth mouthfeel finish.

Our flagship IPA features a huge citrus and tropical fruit hop character from the Mosaic, Citra & El Dorado hops and softer, smoother mouthfeel from the adjusted water chemistry, higher protein malts, and lower attenuation. The end result is a beer reminiscent of citrus juice with extra pulp, thus the name Juicy Bits.
